Vincent Alfano RIP

Vincent Alfano of Rancho Santa Fe, CA passed away on September 4, 2012 at Belmont Village in Cardiff by the Sea after a long and painful fight for life.

Vince was born on June 3, 1934 in Yonkers, New York to Vincent Alfano, Sr. and his wife Jennie who came to the United States in the early 20th Century from Naples, Italy.  Vince was proud of his Italian Heritage and of being a First Generation American.

He served in the U.S. Army Developing and Designing high-speed temperature and pressure recording systems at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Vince moved to San Diego in 1966 and started Alfano Temporary Personnel for Contract Engineering; he successfully owned and operated his company in Sorrento Valley until 2007.

When asked recently what one of the most memorable times in his life was he promptly said “the day I got my Pilots License.”  He enjoyed flying his small lane in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Vince particularly enjoyed traveling with his wife Rose Mary.  They traveled extensively, visiting six of the seven continents, and traveling to Italy and France numerous times, including a seven week train trip through Russia, Siberia, Mongolia and China in the late 70’s with daughter Melanie.

Vince will be lovingly remembered by his friends and family as a kind, generous, thoughtful and brilliant person.  Vince was predeceased by his parents, and sisters Rose, Ann, and Gloria.  He leaves behind his wife Rose Mary, step-daughter Melanie (Peter), and Grandson Trevor, Brother-in-Law Charles Serbian (Carolyn) and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service and Celebration of Vince’s Life will be announced at a later date.
